Zweirad-Klassen (AM, A1, A2, A, A80, B196)

Motorcycle Classes (AM, A1, A2, A, A80, B196)

Von Bikern für Biker

From Bikers to Bikers

The two-wheeler classes have a special place in driver training. On the one hand, there is dedicated theory teaching, separate from class B. On the other hand, your instructor Roland Horn accompanies your practical training on his own motorcycle.

Motorcycle training always begins on low-traffic grounds. Handling and the special basic manoeuvres come first. Every exercise is explained and demonstrated, so you always know what to do. You get plenty of time to practise and receive expert guidance. Even if the first contact with the bike doesn't exactly make everyone cheer … you'll get there. The training-ground sessions are demanding but necessary. You get better every time … and the initial stress turns into joy and fun on the bike – guaranteed!

Once the ground training is complete, it's out onto the road. At first you can feel safe, as your instructor rides ahead of you on his motorcycle. This gives you good, reliable orientation, so all motorcycle-specific situations can be practised with confidence.

After successfully completing the city training, the mandatory special drives follow (except for AM). Country-road rides (cornering technique) deserve particular attention because of the higher speeds. After the special drives there is usually a short exam-preparation phase – and then it's test day.

Test passed → now you're off on your own! We wish you every success and always a hand's breadth of tarmac beneath your tyres!

Grundfahraufgaben im Video

Basic Riding Exercises on Video

Ground training starts with getting to know the motorcycle and practising its controls, followed by exercises for pulling away, steering and shifting gears. Only then come the basic riding exercises – they are also part of the practical test. The video shows all exercises in one go. Click an exercise to jump straight to it.

The basic exercises are ridden by 22-year-old Emily. At the time of the training, she was shortly before her practical test for class A with code 80. Remarkably, Emily is taking her motorcycle licence as her very first licence – without already holding any other driving licence. That is rather rare, as most applicants already have a licence.
